3 different ways to make a trophy

There are many occasions that a trophy is ideal for.  From competitions as part of small informal organizations to large charities through to something quirky to celebrate a life milestone, trophies can come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes however, there just isn’t anything quite right available on the market to buy premade. We’ve discovered that there are three options available when you want a trophy that’s something special.

1. DIY (Do It Yourself)

Source: wikiHow

For the crafty among you, making your own trophy is an ideal way to get exactly what you want while also reusing items that you have around you at a minimal cost using the skills at your disposal. A good video showing the process of making a DIY trophy is one by Makify. This is a good way to use up scraps of wood from previous crafting and repairing adventures. In terms of assembly, it does require some tools. As shown in the video, a bandsaw, drill, hacksaw, sander and glue are the bare minimum. You’ll want to varnish it to make it look good and last as well.

2. 3D Printing

Depending on how big you want the trophy to be and what you want it to be made from, you can go about 3D printing your own trophy in one of two ways. For the first option, making just the trophy topper, this is appropriate for most home 3D printing set-ups. For the second, printing the entire trophy, it requires a larger scale and may not have the same weight to it as a wood and metal trophy.  Either way, how you go about 3D printing your own trophy will depend on  the machine that you have to hand, the material that you want to use and your budget overall. There may be more or less complexity involved when it comes to whether you want a topper that is completely original or one that is based on a pre-existing design.

3. Hire a custom trophy maker

There are two ways of going about this option. One is to see what your local brick-and-mortar trophy stores can do. Some may have more customization options than others. This is good for those who want to be sure that it is ready by a particular deadline who also want to support a local business.

When it comes to something completely out of the usual ballpark however, Printaworld have got you covered. We can work to the scale that you want as we use large-scale machines and we have access to a range of materials for just the finish you want. Our custom trophy making services are affordable and project dependent, and we’d be happy to work with you to make the trophy that you want without breaking the bank.

When it comes to making a custom trophy, you’ve got here in this article the main options available to you. You can make your own from bits and bobs, which is an ideal way to show off your handiwork at the same time. You can go to a physical store to see what custom options they have available or even 3D print your own. For that fully customizable experience, you can hire a custom trophy maker like us at Printaworld. For every budget and idea out there, we’ve got you covered.
